چکیده

• Chronic microelectrode implants in V1 • Anesthetized, paralyzed macaque monkeys • Data from the microelectrode array was recorded by the Cerebus data acquisition system • The Cerebus system monitored each channel’s voltage for values exceeding a threshold • 1.2ms chunks of data were saved (30kHz) each time threshold was reached • Thresholds were set independently for each channel and were determined by a constant multiple of the RMS value. • Waveforms were sorted by a principal components analysis package into noise and discrete units • We hand sorted the output of the PCA sorter using custom software into cells 1 3 Statistical modeling of spiking activity in large scale neuronal networks Ryan C. Improving the Izhikevich Model Based on Rat Basolateral Amygdala and Hippocampus Neurons, and Recognizing Their Possible Firing Patterns

Introduction: Identifying the potential firing patterns following different brain regions under normal and abnormal conditions increases our understanding of events at the level of neural interactions in the brain. Furthermore, it is important to be capable of modeling the potential neural activities to build precise artificial neural networks. The Izhikevich model is one of the simplest biolog...

Modeling Neuronal Assemblies: Theory and Implementation

Models that describe qualitatively and quantitatively the activity of entire groups of spiking neurons are becoming increasingly important for biologically realistic large-scale network simulations. At the systems and areas modeling level, it is necessary to switch the basic descriptional level from single spiking neurons to neuronal assemblies. In this article, we present and review work that ...

Analysis and modeling of massively parallel neural signals - 2010 Special Issue

Uncovering how the brain processes information requires large-scale observations of neuronal activity. Recent progresses in experimental techniques provide novel methods to achieve massively parallel recordings of neuronal activity. For instance, multi-channel electrodes and fluorescent molecular sensors are now commonly used to simultaneously record the spiking activity of hundreds or thousand...

Simulation of Spiking Neural Networks on Different Hardware Platforms

Substantial evidence indicates that the time structure of neuronal spike trains is relevant in neuronal signal processing. Bio-inspired spiking neural networks are taking these results into account. Applications of these networks to low vision problems, e.g. segmentation, requires that the simulation of large-scale networks must be performed in a reasonable time. On this basis, we investigated ...

Random Neural Networks with Synchronised Interactions∗

Large scale distributed systems, such as natural neuronal and artificial systems, have many local interconnections, but often also have the ability to propagate information very fast over relatively large distances. Mechanisms that enable such behaviour include very long physical signalling paths, and possibly also saccades of synchronous behaviour that may propagate across a network. This pape...
